It’s a blast from the past: Gucci’s F/W 18 ad campaign is striking. Featuring elements of classic 60s and 70s movies like The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lost in Space, director Glen Luchford takes Gucci to a whole new level. Not only does the short film focus on the new collection, it is extremely creative. Personally, I find this ad campaign to be fantastic- It shows that there is still a level of fun in fashion. Not everything has to be black and white or serious for an ad campaign- it’s supposed to be something to catch the eye of the consumer. This campaign does exactly that. It takes classic movies, which are easy for the consumer to relate to, and vibrant color (eye catching) to draw attention, which will, of course, translate into profit. Gucci is definitely having the Renaissance it needed, and I am ecstatic to be able to experience it.
